But before I can get into it, can you believe we are one month away to the end of the year. Time flies when you are having fun and I can honestly say that this has been an exciting year for us. Since the launch of this blog, we have had great positive feedback and want to continue to provide great content, value and service. With that being said we are determined to finish the year strong and hope that we can inspire you along the way.
When you think small bathroom a couple of things come to mind, narrow shower stalls and baths, no storage, limited design poor lighting and generally unpleasant to be in. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Bathrooms can get expensive and less square footage in a bathroom means affordable renovations, easy to decorate and get creative on your design. You can create the illusion of space while maximize functionality. From mosaic flooring to floor to ceiling tiling, we have rounded up tips, and tricks to get creative with small bathroom design.
1. FLOOR TO WALL TILING
Use the same tiles on the floor and walls. This tricks the eyes and adds a spa style touch. It also creates a spacious feel. Wall tile is moisture resistant, easy to clean, stain and fire proof.
2. FURNISH TO SCALE
Scale will be key in making your bathroom look bigger than what it is. That might seem daunting but it actually is not at all. All you need to do is take your measurements of your bathroom, and insert them into bathroom software and voila, in no time you will have designed your bathroom to scale. There are many free programs online Programs like Home styler or Planner 5D or Room Sketcher that have helped me design some projects. Check them out. Another advantage to using bathroom software is that you will visually see where to place everything and plan out before install which will save you lots of money. As opposed to trying to furnish guessing whether the items you purchase will work in the space.
3. MOSAIC FLOORING
Mosaic tile flooring are a great option for all bathrooms particularly small bathrooms. They add a luxurious feel and the patterns make a small space look bigger.
4. CURB-LESS SHOWER
Eliminating the curb in a shower allows for continuity of flow in space. Curbs in shower create a barrier between the flooring details or tile work in the shower.
5. GO FOR GLASS
If you are going to break the negative stigma that comes with small bathrooms, why not splurge on a glass shower door. They create a feeling of openness and add a sophisticated and spa like feel in your bathroom.
6. OPEN SHELVING
This is a trend that we have seen become more and more popular especially in kitchens. Open shelving is convenient, add style, budget friendly and are perfect for non standard spaces. Employing this in your small bathroom design will not only create a functional space but will add a design feature that will add the charm you need.
7. MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL
The use of mirrors has been a trick that designers use and live by for small spaces. Mirrors are known to double your space, and mirrors the furniture, accessories and walls in the space.
8. WALL HUNG UNITS
Wall hung vanities are great for space saving, are easy to clean, can be multi functional by using the space below the unit and more importantly are stylish and trendy.
With that In mind, you don’t have to be intimidated with designing your small space bathroom. Dont be afraid to break out of the box and make it your own. Hope this inspires you to indulge in a design project of your own. If you do decide to, let us know how your project is going, send us some pics most of all, leave us a comment. We would love to hear from you. Until next time, have a great rest of the week.
