HOW DO YOU KNOW IT IS THE RIGHT TIME?
Happy Monday beautiful people. Its been such a whirl wind, I feel like I haven’t maximized my summer time as I should have but it was all in good cause. While the rest of the world was indulging in summer activities, I first and foremost made the decision to go out on my own full time. In as much as it was a scary decision, I can honestly say that taking the leap of faith has been worth it.
I launched my business about a year ago and had been working on it part time. Prior to that I had a home renovation of my own and I loved every bit of it. I also had worked on design projects for friends over the years. In addition within the last year partnered up with contractors on various projects.
It became increasingly apparent that I had a passion for Interior Design. I battled with the idea of when I was going to transition. Originally, I planned to transition in 2019 hoping that by then I would be more established. It came as a surprise to myself that I woke up one day and decided that I was going to hand in my notice two weeks before June 2018.
Why so rash? Because it dawned on me that there is no perfect time to go all in and pursue my passion. Whether or not I made the decision to stay until 2019, didn’t take from the fact that I was going to make the decision at some point. For this reason, I would never be quite ready to make the jump. I did have mixed reviews about my decision. Some thought it was too rash, some were ecstatic. One thing was for sure, everything in my gut felt right and knew that it was time.
I said all of that to say, there will never be a perfect time. We often tend to think that we have to have things perfectly in place to make certain decisions. Well, I guess in context. What I mean by that is that each and every person has a different set of circumstances. I was able to make the jump because I have nothing that is holding me back. I don’t have as much responsibilities or things that tie me down ( family, marriage, etc). This is the time to bet on myself and stretch out of my comfort zone and build something that I can leave for my babies, and great grand babies. If I am to leave a legacy, there is no better time to start than now. And you can do the same too.
Granted my circumstances are different from a lot of people out there, this should not serve as a discouragement or excuse. It shouldn’t stop ANYONE from pursuing their goals and passions. You may have a ton more responsibility than I do, however with the right planning you too could build a life for yourself and your family/ loved ones that you have always imagined. The most important thing to remember is that, you have one life. If you feel like you have a gift, an idea or a piece of yourself that you want to share with the world, then take the step and release it. Why? because its all in Purpose and your gift/vision is tied to someone. Meaning, it is meant to impact some.. maybe 100 if not millions of people out there. The world needs your talent/gift/vision and business idea.
Trust your gut and take the leap of faith. It is not going to be easy, but its going to be worth it. Zig Ziglar a great mentor to me and I am sure so many says, ” You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great”. With that being said, There is not better time than now. Get started, and know without a shadow of doubt that whatever is beyond the doors of this decision, you will not regret. You will be challenged to grow beyond who you are now and if you are patient with the process and the journey, you will love who you grow to become.
And by no means am I an expert in this field. This post is just to serve an encouragement to someone who is thinking to make the step like I did. I hope to share my entrepreneurial experience along the way and you too Lifestyle Loft fam can get to see what it all entails. As I grow you grow with me.
I am going to end here for now. Hope this serves as encouragement to you. More importantly, have an amazing rest of the week. Let us know what your journey has been like so far? And if you are thinking about making the step, or where you are at in the process or starting your business. Looking forward to hearing from you. Have an amazing week.
